You got the job you wanted, made the sale, or earned a good grade. You worked hard for this, and it feels good to see it happen.
But before long, you start to think about the next goal. You may wonder how to keep what you have earned. You may see someone doing more and feel that you need to catch up.
Did you stop to enjoy what you had done?
There is nothing wrong with wanting to do well. Work can be a source of pride. Learning a skill can be fun. Building something can mean a great deal to you.
But what happens after the good news? Do you sit down for a meal and enjoy it? Call a friend? Or start to worry about the next thing you need to do?
Think about why you wanted this in the first place. Was it to have more time with your family? Worry less about work? Do something you enjoy?
Are you doing any of those things now, or do they have to wait for the next goal?
You can have plans for the future and enjoy your life today. Most of your life is spent working toward a goal, not reaching one. How do you want to spend that time?
